“We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly - spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order.”

Have you ever stopped to think about what that really means, “Becoming”?

Michelle Obama wrote a New York Times Bestseller entitled as such and began a movement that empowered others to seek to be likewise – to become! It was her memoir, sharing intimate, powerful, and inspiring stories of her past and really how she overcame as she was becoming. I too wrote a memoir of a few moments in time of my own life coupled between a myriad of poem I’ve written over the years. They were important markers, like Michelle's, that propelled me from one state of existence to another. They helped me to overcome and become better in my understandings of how life works. The interesting thing about becoming is that you never stop experiencing it until you pass from this life to the next and even then, the understanding is that you will continue on into eternity embracing a different dimension of such.

My question to you is, ‘Who are you becoming’? I have here recently committed to asking it of myself daily. Why? Because it causes us to step into a place of awareness or consciousness that we have a choice and that it really does matter how we choose. Our lives depend on our ability to effectively exercise the power of choice that securely lies within us today and every day thereafter. They will determine the quality of our tomorrows as well as that of those connected to us. They too are affected by our choices, as are we by theirs. We have a responsibility to becoming better than who we were yesterday; becoming wiser, becoming knowledgeable, becoming understanding, joyful, loving, forgiving, patient, kind, gentle. I’m confident that you are seeing the picture more clearly now. The more we become determines the strokes of our paintbrushes and how they swipe across the canvas of our lives and those around us. So, let us adamantly become disciplined at "becoming" to the fruitfulness of life itself.
